Is screw piling the right solution for your structure?

For it to remain stable, almost any structure will need to have proper support in place. You may need to dig down deep into the ground to lay a foundation that can spread the building weight or, perhaps, rest the weight of the structure on solid rock. A good foundation will ensure the stability of the building and make certain that there is no risk of subsidence or other structural problems being identified soon. However, traditional foundations are not suitable for all structures, and in some cases, traditional foundations are impractical. One highly effective alternative solution is screw piling. Screw piling is widely used for masts, railway engineering, and a variety of road projects, but it can also be employed in many other situations. Here are three occasions that you could think about using screw piling on your project.

Is the surrounding space limited?

Creating traditional foundations requires a lot of space. You must be able to bring heavy equipment onto the site, and you need to be able to park the machine on the site while you dig down into the ground. In addition to an access route, you may need room to store both the heavy equipment and the soil on the site while the work is ongoing. If you were to choose screw piling as an alternative, you would need much less equipment and far less space. The amount of soil produced by screw piling is negligible since you don't need to dig into the ground. Instead of digging, you simply screw the pile into the ground, and whatever angle is chosen for the pile, it can support a substantial load.

Are there neighbours in the immediate vicinity?

Traditional piling techniques tend to be noisy. These methods require the piles to be hammered into the ground; the hammering results in a lot of noise and vibration, which can affect the quality of life for all of those who may be nearby. Screw piling is much quieter and can be completed with far less disturbance for everyone. The piles might be screwed into the ground manually or with a torque driver, but that lack of hammering makes this a much more suitable piling technique when you must maintain the tranquility of the neighbourhood.

Does the work need to be done quickly?

If you must put your piles into place quickly, screw piling is the right decision. Using screw piling allows you to avoid the use of heavy machinery. Instead of being a labour-intensive task, screw piling lets you put the piles into position without the large team of men that would often be needed for any other method.
